• On the Control Panel select "PRESS HERE TO START"
• Select Camera you want to use using CAMERA CONTROL for "CAMERA 1 CONTROL" or "CAMERA 2 CONTROL" and adjust position with the controls on the control panel, Pan / Tilt / Zoom or using PRESET buttons.

• In Audio Controls under "Control Room Audio Playback Mutes" confirm "Monitor Speaker" ON (Button will be red on mute).  
• Under "Treatment Room Audio Playback Mutes" confirm "Wall Speaker" is muted.  (Button will be red on mute)
• Please Log Off  Controller when finished by pressing "SHUTDOWN" when finished.

• Login to the provided PC using your University of Galway campus account:
• Staff: login using staffid(e.g 0123456s ) and associated password.
• From the PC desktop, please double click to the application you wish to use. i.e. MS Teams or Zoom. When signing in to Teams or Zoom please use login [email protected].

How to select the correct Camera, Microphone, and Speaker while using this PC for Hybrid Meetings:

• From the PC desktop, please double click on the application you wish to use. i.e. MS Teams or Zoom and login using your UDS creditenals.
• Once you have logged into the application you wish to use, ensure that you select the correct, camera, microphone and the speaker within the application’s  Audio & Video settings.
•  
• Select "USB Capture SDI" as your camera.  You can change the camera you want to choose using the Roland Switcher on the desk. 
• Select “Echo Cancelling Speakerphone (DMP Plus USB#1)” as your microphone.  
• Select “Echo Cancelling Speakerphone (DMP Plus USB#1)”as your speaker.
• Please Log Off  Controller when finished by pressing "SHUTDOWN" and Log OFF the PC when finished.

Control room PC

1. Login to the PC using your University of Galway credentials and login to Learning Space.

2.  Go to www.learningspace.nuigalway.ie and login with your email address and password for learning space.

3.   When logged in you will be brought to the LS dashboard.

4.   Go to the recording tab.

5.  You will then be shown all available rooms. Select the room in which your simulation is occurring (e.g. 339, 340)

6.   You will now be shown the view from the cameras in the room. You’ll also be shown what the digital capture unit is capturing.

7.  The view of each of the cameras can be adjusted by clicking the settings cogwheel icon on the frame of each camera view. 8.  Ensure the control room speaker is switched on and volume is set to an appropriate level (50-75%).

Start-up AV equipment  

Control room 

1. Select the correct control for the simulation. Each control room controls the AV equipment for one room e.g. Room 339.  

Go to the touch panel and ensure it is powered on (Press here to Start) 

The default home screen panel should look as follows (Use the MUTE button to mute the audio going into the observer classroom in between sims. Use TELEPHONE MUTE so observers can hear a phone call only) Select the bed number you are observing ( The microphone, bed speaker and camera will be set for the bed you select: 

To configure the DISPLAY CONTROLS settings for a simulation, click on DISPLAY CONTROL (Password  is 1234). The screen (Teaching screen, Bed1/2) can be powered on and off from the control panel. From below picture BED1 screen is set to show what id being displayed on the CONTROL PC. 

Note: If e.g. either Bed Screen 1 or Bed Screen 2 does not come on check that the Bed PC is switched on. 

 Observer/Classroom 

1. Ensure ‘Lectern PC’ is selected on the touch panel 

Simulation room 

1. The Simulation room PC should be switched on. If it isn’t, switch it on (It is located in the white panel located beside or behind the bed being used for simulation. Login details are: 

Username:  .\SimUser 

Password: SimUser 

The patient monitor application should load automatically (May take 1-2 minutes). If not, double click the patient monitor application on the desktop 

On the patient monitor software, click on the WiFi: not connected link (Ensure manikin is switched on at this point) 

• If using Sim Man Essential or Sim Junior, connect to ICAPSS SIM (Password: patient safety) 
• If using SIM MAN 3G connect to SIM MAN 3G Plus (Password: 24800600 
• If using the new white MEGA CODE KELLY connect to TP_Link_0236 (Password: 34414347) 

** NOTE you should not need to enter a password, these networks are already connected. 

 You should now be connected to the patient monitor for the manikin  

In Operation 

Control room 

1. If you are using the microphone to speak as the manikin voice, ensure the button on the microphone is pressed down. If you are not speaking, press the button again so no noise is transmitted into the simulation room.  

2. Use the MUTE button on the touch panel to mute the audio from the simulation room into the Observers room  

** The control room speakers will not get muted by this button, they are on a different feed** 

3. Use the TELEPHONE MUTE button on the touch panel to mute all audio except for the telephone in the observer rooms  

** The voice for the manikin should wear the control room headphones when this is pressed so they can continue to hear the other participants in the room** 

Observer/Classroom 

1. Make sure the touch panel in the control room is not muted and the volume is at an acceptable level. The volume slider can adjust this. 

Shutdown 

Control room 

1. Close Google Chrome to exit LearningSpace 
2. Sign out of the control room PC 
3. Press the shutdown button on the touchpanel 
4. Turn off the speakers in the control room 

Observer/Classroom 

1. Close Google Chrome to exit LearningSpace 
2. Sign out of the control room PC 
3. Press the shutdown button on the touchpanel 

Simulation room 

1. The patient monitor will switch itself off after the manikin has been powered off 

Tips & Tricks 

• Sometimes LearningSpace loses its connection to the microphone if you are logged in too long. Logout and log back in to resolve this  
• Similarly, the cameras can freeze if logged in too long. Logout and log back in to resolve this. 
• All PC’s are installed with a standard University of Galway image. Occasionally, the PC will show a diagnostic fault like the below image. If this occurs, please reboot the PC using the power button on the PC. 
• Telephone Mute mutes audio into the control room too, so the voice of the manikin should wear the headphones provided!!
