AI Features in Zoom

This article will highlight new features in Zoom settings.

Adjusting Zoom Settings

Begin by clicking on the following link, which will take you to the AI Companion area of your Zoom account's settings.

There are three categories of AI features to explore:

  1. Meeting
  2. Recording
  3. Whiteboard
Meeting

The first three are locked and can be disregarded. The remaining are described in the table below.

Use screen share content with OCR Turn this on to allow Zoom's AI to read text shared on screen. This will most commonly be text on slides or a PDF shared to the other users in a call.
Use meeting chat messages
Turn this on to allow Zoom's AI to read the main chat (not any direct messages to and from individuals).

With these settings turned on, the text and information conveyed will be incorporated into the other features described in the following sections, like meeting insights and transcription.

Recording

You can choose to turn on any combination of the four smart recording options.

Recording highlights This feature will identify 'highlights' from the call automatically, which will be highlighted in the transcript. The host of the meeting can edit these and choose to generate a video summary based on the highlights.
Smart chapters
Chapters will be identified automatically within a presentation (e.g. based on transitions or different speakers or even different topics). The host can edit these chapters for accuracy. Sharing a video with chapters will help users navigate to the relevant section, which is particularly helpful for longer videos or recordings of events.
Next steps
AI will generate a summary of actions for the next meeting.
Meeting coach
Similar to PowerPoint's rehearsal coach, Zoom's Meeting Coach will generate feedback for the participants. This feedback includes their talk/listen ratio, speed of speaking, use of filler words, identify the length of their shortest and longest contribution. Hosts and participants view only their own metrics - Zoom admin users can view all participants' metrics.
Whiteboard

The AI features added to the whiteboard include the ability to:

  • generate 'stickies' - digital post-it notes that AI will fill in for you
  • generate table
  • generate flowcharts
  • generate text
  • generate mindmap

In each instance, the user provides a prompt or a question, and AI will create content responding to the prompt or answering the question in one of the formats above, which the user chooses from a dropdown menu.

Zoom advertise the feature  in the promotional video below.
