Extending your desktop

When connected to an external display, the PC in a lecture theatre has two different display modes: Duplicate and Extend. In Duplicate  the computer monitor duplicates the monitor on the external display so that you see the same picture on both the desktop and projector. This is the venue default.

In Extend Mode  the external display is treated as a separate screen so that you can have different windows open on the projector and desktop. It is easy to switch between the two settings.

Sharing PowerPoint in Extend mode

Option 1 - Presenter view : When using the lectern PC, if you select slide show as normal, presenter view will automatically display on the lectern monitor and the slides will display on the Projector. You will be able to see your notes.

Option 2 - Slide view (no notes) : You can disable presenter view by going to Slide Show in PowerPoint and deselecting the box beside Use Presenter View.

Once presenter view is disabled, if you want to resize the dimensions of the PowerPoint window, so you can also view the online chat go to: Slide Show on the ribbon > Set Up Slide Show >Browsed by individual window.

You can also quickly navigate between your various applications open in different windows by pressing the Windows + Tab key simultaneously. This will allow you to have your pretension on full screen mode, yet have quick access to the chat.
